US Citizens to be Required ''Clearance'' to Leave USA

This country is now in a downward spiral that at this point I feel is unstoppable without the use of drastic measures.
Rights and freedoms that are taken for granted are being dismissed and tossed aside, or simply ignored, at an alarming rate.
What can the average citizen do about this?
Vote? We all know what happens when you vote. Elections are rigged, results are tampered with. New technologies are making this easier and the powers that be know this.
Write your elected official? If your particular official isn't already part of the problem then you are likely preaching to the choir. Not all elected officials are corrupt. Many feel the same way that we do and are appalled at what is going on. Many just don't give a damn. They simply serve their own interests and the interests of those that paid to elect them.
Protest? It seems that public protest does little to further your cause. It only helps the government in identifying dissenters. But no one can deny the power of a mob. As a friend and I once concluded "never underestimate the use of violence as an effective means of persuasion."
So you tell me, what can we do?
All I can come up with is that we should all stay informed. Keep abreast of what the government is doing. Of what our elected officials are doing. Even if we can't change the situation. Of course this is something that we should all be doing all the time.
Ignorance is the enemy here.
