Enough for today

Enough with the fucking "mash ups" or whatever you want to call them. When I was 13 I would record TV shows and play records at the same time. I invented the mash up, like every other 13 year old did 20 something years ago. Yes, The Grey Album is fantastic. Danger Mouse is a really talented artist, and I don't think mash ups should stop being made, but I don't want to hear about them anymore. It seems I am constantly informed of another corny combination via many of the web sites I read regularly. Or maybe I am just feeling sensitive to them. Bullshit. Maybe it's not the mash up that I have issues with but the media coverage they continue to get. And yes, web sites are media coverage. I am an advocate of artistic expression in all of its forms. What annoys me is when the media picks up on and then beats to death what they feel is the latest form of expression. The past few years have seen a tremendous increase in the use of technology as a tool to express ones self. This has made it easier to deliver said vision to the masses. If that is what you want. Sometimes it isn't what you want but it happens anyway. Anyone remember the dancing baby? Anyone remember when you had to download it to see it? I realize this has turned into a rant and make no apologies for it.
